At Heritage we are an accredited member of National Britannia SAFE Contractor.

SAFE Contractor is a health & safety accreditation scheme for contractors. It simplifies the process of demonstrating to clients that health and safety policies and procedures are in place.

The scheme assesses health & safety arrangements. The scheme is recognised by many organisations who accept a SAFE Contractor certificate as confirmation of competency.

Clients have a legal obligation to ensure that contractors operate in a safe way. There is a need to assess contractors health & safety arrangements, and increasingly this is being carried out through the SAFE Contractor scheme.

Many large organisations now use SAFE Contractor as their primary means of selecting contractors.

IPAF Member

What is IPAF?

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) promotes the safe and effective use of powered access worldwide. Set up in 1983, IPAF is a not-for-profit members’ organisation that represents the interests of manufacturers, distributors, users, rental and training companies. It serves as a forum for all active in the world of powered access. IPAF has played a key role in promoting many of the design, safety and testing procedures that are now established in the powered access industry.

PAL Card

Those who successfully complete IPAF training are awarded the PAL Card (Powered Access Licence), the most widely held and recognised proof of training for platform operators.

The PAL Card is valid for five years and shows the machine categories that the operator has been trained in. It also features the holder’s photo and signature, and can be verified by calling IPAF.

We are Trained (PAL Card) and Certificated in the use of Powered Access Platforms.

In areas beyond the reach of the Gutter-Vac system we can utilise powered access platforms. We will advise you with full details and costs at quotation.

IOSH Managing Safely

IOSH is Europe's leading body for health and safety professionals, with nearly 33,000 members worldwide, including 13,000 Chartered Safety and Health Practitioners.

The Institution was founded in 1945 and is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that sets professional standards, supports and develops members and provides authoritative advice and guidance on health and safety issues. IOSH is formally recognised by the ILO as an international non-governmental organisation.

We have completed a four day intensive course for Managers on Safety in the workplace, giving us the needed knowledge to complete our work safely. This helps to protect the safety of our staff, members of your work force and the public.
 

HSE directive

In 2005/06 falls from height accounted for 46 fatal accidents at work and around 3350 major injuries. They remain the single biggest cause of workplace deaths and one of the main causes of major injury.

HSE Guidelines say you must:

• Ensure that no work is done at height if it is safe and reasonably practicable to do it other than at height; where they cannot eliminate the risk of a fall, use work equipment or other measures to minimise the distance and consequences of a fall should one occur.

For the above reasons and to comply with the HSE as much as possible we now use our High Level Gutter Cleaner on as many properties as possible.
